Amy grew up in idyllic Tasmania, Australia, surrounded by musicians, story-tellers, artists, and educators. These formative years and rich childhood shaped a lifelong mission; to relish all the ways that music adds to the human experience, and to ensure the gift of music-making is accessible to as many as possible.
With a Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice, Amy is a distinguished soprano whose career spans classical, jazz, and contemporary genres. For over two decades, she has performed, taught, composed, and directed - bringing music to life in communities, studios, and schools across Australia.
Since locating to Sydney in 2013 with her husband, Bass Baritone Christopher Richardson, and their (now-grown) children, Amy’s creative reach has only expanded. She has founded award-winning music schools, led children’s singing programs, advised national music education bodies, and directed choirs nationwide. Today, she conducts three choirs, freelances as an artistic director, while running a music studio from her home. By day, Amy works as Director of Music (P-12) in an Independent school in Sydney, where she continues her mission to shape and equip young musicians with skills, passion and purpose. Beyond music, Amy finds inspiration in poetry, painting, and in spending time in the Australian outdoors. Her compositions are typically inspired in this space; gravitating towards themes of gratitude and hope.
